When I first earned my chemistry degree I did not have a good idea of what I was going to do with my degree.  I spent a year working in various labs.  I did not enjoy the work so I tried substitute teaching and have been teaching ever since.  I spent the first portion of my career teaching at Granada High School then I took a 6 year break to stay home raising my two boys.  I went back to work for SRVUSD at Iron horse middle school for one year followed by DVHS.  Now I feel like I have found my work family.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy:

Mathematics is an interesting discipline to teach because much of it has a correct an  efficient method.  As long as you understand the rules it is not ambiguous.  Math builds upon itself where each rule or piece of knowledge extends to another piece. It can be challenging for many because it is a demanding discipline that requires mastery of prior knowledge.  As you learn rules and practice you can improve your understanding then build upon them and then eventually reach the study of higher mathematics. In the process of learning mathematics you can also learn how to learn. You can apply what you did for learning math and apply it to any other discipline.

Personal Notes:

My family consists of my wife, two boys, two kittens, and a dog.  I enjoy the occasional video game, book, and art museum.  I am active in my boys cub scout pack and I enjoy watching them play sports.  It is important to work hard and play hard and try to balance the two every week.
