Background: I grew up in Paso Robles, CA and come from a family of educators. After high school, I accepted an athletic scholarship and played volleyball at Wichita State University. During and after college, I studied Spanish abroad in Puebla, Mexico and in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. I thoroughly enjoyed traveling and learning about various cultures and ways of life. This led me to apply for the United States Peace Corps where I served as an Education (Teacher) Volunteer in the Republic of Kiribati for two years. After completing my service, I moved to the Bay Area to pursue my Masters in School Counseling. I worked as a School Counselor at El Cerrito High School from 2007-2011. I have been at Dougherty Valley High School since 2011 and I am so honored to work with such an amazing faculty, students and community. I absolutely love my job and working with students every day to help them reach their goals and dreams. Nothing makes me happier than feeling like I have made a positive impact on a student's day.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy:  I encourage my students to find their passion and to do what they love. I believe that anything is possible if you truly put your mind to it and believe that you can.

“Great effort springs naturally from great attitude.”- Pat Riley

Personal Notes: I absolutely love being outside and am very active. My husband and I  are avid runners & hikers and spend most of our weekends hitting the Bay Area trails or running in races. I love to travel, read, and spend time in the mountains or on a sunny beach. I live in Pleasanton with my son, Carl (16 months old) and my husband, Jason.
