"Beauty in Age" AP Art Exhibit

If you are in the San Ramon/Alcosta Blvd. area between the dates of 12/4-12/20/2018, and you’d like to see some lovely artwork by DVHS’s AP Art class, please consider swinging by the Alcosta Senior and Community Center Gallery, where our annual exhibit, “Beauty in Age” is on display.

The AP Studio Art class has been participating in this partnership with the San Ramon Senior Center, for several years, and the students and community take great pride in the intergenerational and multicultural bonds this exhibit creates.  This year, the AP Art class chose senior citizens from their own life: mostly grandparents, great-grandparents and neighbors, as well as some teachers, and family friends.  Working from photographs, family stories and old memories, students created portraits in their likeness, using media and methods which represent the individual.  The portraits tell more than just the visual representation of the figure; the students are also telling a visual story about this individual’s life and the impact they’ve had on these young students.

Media ranges from: pencil, charcoal, pastel, paint, collage, mixed media, and digital art.

Thank you for your continued support of our SRVUSD Arts programs.

Our primary school art programs, middle school art programs and high art school programs, make culminating exhibits like this, possible. The student’s talents and skills have been honed for many years, and influenced by many teachers… it is with their efforts that we bring this artwork into the community. We hope you enjoy it.
