Want to make a difference on campus? JOIN CIRCLE OF FRIENDS!

Hey Wildcats!

Are you someone who is interested in making a difference on campus and truly impacting the special-needs community at Dougherty? Join Circle of Friends!

Circle of Friends is a school inclusion program that builds friendships between students with special needs and general-ed students. Circle of Friends students can surround themselves with friends and improve their social skills. Special education students often feel alone and isolated as they typically spend most of their time with their special-ed peers and are often targets of bullying. Our goal is to include students with special needs in school activities and help them feel included in the general population and receive a new friend out of it. Just because someone is “different” doesn't mean that they are worth less than others. Our job is to foster understanding, inspire acceptance, build friendships, and create inclusion. CoF breaks down barriers “ as students learn that we all want to be accepted for who we are… we all want friends.”

Come to our interest meeting on 9/24 in room 4104 during lunch and catch us at club day to sign up!
